The ‘Sustainable Water Management in Africa’ course at UCT is aimed at the next generation of critical thinkers. It uses an interdisciplinary approach to critically engage with the environmental, technical, socio-cultural, economic and political challenges of water demand, supply and treatment to create an understanding of the role of water in society and in sustaining livelihoods. One of the main focus areas of the course is strong engagement with the interdisciplinary / transdisciplinary research paradigm and particularly its role in integrated water management. The course provides the necessary contextual information to allow people from any background to participate meaningfully.

US$3,000. Tuition fee includes the following:
- Accommodation
- Daily lunches
- Academic field trips to the Water Hub and Langrug informal settlement in Franschhoek
- Excursion to Robben Island and Cape Peninsula tour
Credits equivalent at home university
4 USA Credits; 8 ECT credits; 20 NQF credits (to be awarded by home institution)
