The conference was targeted at PhD students from various research fields with interests in health and aging research. The second GSC was planned in the context of the IARU conferences in Copenhagen related to the Aging, Longevity and Health (ALH) project and network.
Subthemes on the GSC were:
- Theories of aging
- Intervention projects
- Future direction of health and aging research
- Scientific careers for young scholars
Participants were invited to submit an abstract in the purpose of giving a presentation. The IARU GSC was held in continuation of the two following IARU conferences:
- “Genome Dynamics in Neuroscience and Aging”, 17-20 June, primarily targeted at scientists and clinicians interested in genomic stability, mitochondrial function and neuronal development and degeneration, and
- “Cultures of Health and Aging?”, 20-21 June, primarily of interest for researchers in the humanities, and the social and behavioral sciences
EuroScience Open Forum 2014
As a part of the GSC, participants took part in the career track for young scientist at Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) 2014 “Science Building Bridges”. ESOF is a biennial pan-European meeting dedicated to scientific research and innovation. The ESOF 2014 was held in Copenhagen on 21-26 June.
At ESOF meetings, leading scientists, researchers, business people, entrepreneurs and innovators, policy makers, science and technology communicators and the general public from all over Europe discuss new discoveries and debate the direction that research will be taking in science.
