Staff Development and Exchange
IARU Staff Development and Exchange is an informal program to provide greater professional and personal development for IARU colleagues performing administrative functions. Staff benefit from spending time at another IARU university where there is significant opportunity to share with and to learn from counterparts.
Staff from IARU members who seek to learn from partner institutions and build a network of international peers can join this exchange. Past examples of staff development and exchanges include:
- Co-location whereby an IARU member hosts a staff from another university who will also continue to work for his / her home university
- Exchange whereby a staff from an IARU member takes a role at another university for a few months
- Visiting staff (or sabbatical) whereby a staff from an IARU member visits another university while on paid leave from his / her home job
Staff Development and Exchanges expands and deepens staff members' knowledge about each others' universities and strengthens the Alliance. Such interchanges are self-driven and initiated by interested staff members themselves. Rather than formalizing the forms and types of programs, the Alliance continues to encourage staff to take ownership of their own development.
IARU faculty and researchers can also apply for Faculty Exchange to establish networks and become involved in the ongoing IARU research initiatives or co-teach a Global Education Initiative module.
