PKU2 - History, Photography, Memory

This course will explore how photography shapes history and memory, both personal and public.

Target Audience/ Prerequisites

Bachelor Students.
English is the language of instruction. No prerequisites required.

Assessment

Weekly response papers 3-page each (4 total)
Final project and presentation

The assessment will be made up of three components, with the following suggested weightings:

  • Weekly response papers (40%)
  • Final Project and Presentation (50%)
  • Class Participation  (10%)

    RMB 9,000 (includes field trip).

    PKU will offer four academic courses (PKU1, PKU2, PKU3 and PKU4) in the 2016 program. The package tuition fee of RMB 9,000 will cover up to two academic courses (from PKU1, PKU2, PKU3 and PKU4) for GSP student. If a GSP student wants to attend three academic courses, an additional tuition fee will apply (RMB 2,000 for one credit).

  • Accommodation

    RMB 120-140 per day for a single room.

    Approximately RMB 4,000 in total plus returnable deposit of 500 RMB
  • Living Expenses

    Approximately RMB 100 per day
  • Scholarships

    PKU offers up to 3 IARU students from each member school the funding of accommodation in the program from 03/07/16 to 02/08/16.

Required and / or Recommended Insurance(s)

International insurance must be purchased by the student or his/her home university. Proof of insurance will be required upon registration.

Further Information

For Yale students interested in applying for PKU2 taught by Laura Wexler: This course must be taken for 1 Yale credit. Tuition charges for this course will be billed by Yale.
